Died after a long 15 month battle against a rare form of cancer
Katie born on 29th September 1986 a normal healthy baby to proud parents Julie and Micky. However at 6 months Katie and her family were faced with the daunting news of a terratoma diagnosis. Surgery on this occasion was the only option, with an 8 hour operation leaving poor Katie fighting for her life in intensive care. If this wasnβt enough of a battle at such a young age the cancer returned shortly after her third birthday. The news at this time was bleak with certain doctors saying recovery was extremely rare. Katie being the fighter she was endured 6 months chemotherapy followed by more surgery and yet again this brave courageous girl defied all odds to pull through. Katie went on to live a happy childhood and like all teenagers lived life to the full, successfully gaining 9 GCSEβs, 4 A Levels and starting university at Scarborough. However unfortunately shortly after turning 19 the cancer returned, with chemotherapy and radiotherapy being the course of action. A further 15 month battle was faced by Katie, with this unbelievable girl managing to maintain a smile and constantly putting other people first. The gruelling effects of the cancer and chemotherapy didnβt even prompt Katie to complain, if this wasnβt inspiration enough she proceeded through the pain to produce a video to help other teenage cancer sufferers (www.jimmyteenstv.com, Sheffield link). Devastatingly Katieβs brave battle was lost on 27th March 2007, leaving a large void in many peoples lives.

i read your story an tears streamed down my face.. i have watched a very close friend fight a losing battle to cancer...all your suffering is over now an may you rest in peace in god,s arms... your parents lose but gods gain.. rest in peace katie .. wat a beautiful an strong girl you were.
i am so sorry for your loss i have lost my son only 13 months it has brought so much heart ache to my famiy.i have watched katies video and it was amazing that she could do that in her condition. you must be so proud of her.she is beautiful and she is in heaven looking down on you both.be strong and im sure you will meet again.i cant wait till i meet my little boy again.email me back if you want to.please if you want to visit my son his name is alfie parsons i look forward to hearing from you.
to katie, s family i am so sorry for your loss of a beautiful strong young lady taken to early by this terrible disease cancer i lost my sister to cancer 15 months ago aged 27, she like your lovely daughter had her whole life ahead of her, your daughter like my sister was very strong through their illness, your daughter left you lovely memories to treasure which can never be taken, i hope katie finds my sister adele up in heaven i know they will get on great, the songs you have added onto katies page were played at my sisters funeral, my thoughts and prayers are with you through this difficult time but they say god only takes the BEST so we must take some comfort knowing we had 2 of the BEST people, R.I.P Katie xxxx
